Held For Ransom. 2000. Miracle Entertainment. R.
5 kids from a rich neighborhood are kidnapped and (shock) held for ransom. Lots of bad language and some gross scenes. Available to rent at Blockbuster Video. Not bad.
The film starred Dennis Hopper (the bus driver from "Speed," and co-star of 2 of James Dean's movies [Rebel and Giant] in his earlier days), Morgan Fairchild (from the 'Naked Gun' films), Zachary Ty Bryan (the oldest son on 'Home Improvement', and no, he's not ugly), Randy Spelling (son of Aaron Spelling [famous producer], Randy is a cutey), Jordan Brower (hopefully by now you know what he's from), and a whole slew of other people including two teenage actresses.
The tape has volume issues. There would be these moments where they're sharing little secrets that may have added to the plot, and I'd turn up the volume, then they'd swear or something real loud. The plot worked. The little romance in the film did not work. They just never really developed it. My main issue was with the lack of character developement. Dennis Hopper plays a good crazy guy. Zachary Ty Bryan's character was convincing. However, the girls were pretty much ornaments with boobs. Jordan's character (which says nothing for his acting, or how HOT he looked with a NEW HAIR STYLE, and the awesome ensamble he had on) was really wishy washy. Jordan played Bruce Kirtland, younder brother of Glen Kirtland (Zachary Ty Bryan). He thought his brother was THE GREATEST, but then there would be moments that he doubted him. It was frustrating because the character really didn't seem to know who to be. But that wasn't Jordan's acting. He acted the part well. The character could have been built better. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that that's off my chest, if you're at least 17 or your parents approve of you seeing the film, rent it. It's a litle yucky at times, yes, but it's a small price to pay to see Jordan on film. Really. It wasn't epic, but it didn't suck terribly. It was a mediocre film. Better than 'Urban Legends' but not better than 'Final Destination' (which I loved). Oh, and I think you'll be proud of what Jordan is when the film ends. THERE. That's it. Thanks for reading. Be sure to let me know what you think too, OK?
The Award goes to:
1)
2) Jordan, for the SWEET hair style and awesome clothes.
